On Tuesday 12th March, Ryan from JWR Renewables came to our school to speak to pupils from 3rd-6th class. Ryan gave a fabulous presentation to the boys and girls on solar energy and sustainability. JWR Renewables were also running a competition to design a best buddy for their company mascot and invited pupils to take part. Many pupils entered from Killeen N.S. but also from many other schools around the country. We were so delighted to get an email over Easter to say that one of our 5th class pupils won the competition! Huge congrats to Abbie Loughrey who won a €50 voucher for herself, a digital graphic image of her mascot in a frame and €500 for her school towards our sustainable energy journey. We are thrilled for Abbie and the Green Team are super impressed. Well done Abbie! Thursday 21st March is World Down Syndrome Day.
The staff and pupils rocked their brightly-coloured socks to raise awareness about Down Syndrome. Here is a link to a useful primary school guide from Down Syndrome Ireland: https://downsyndrome.ie/wp-content/uploads/2024/03/Primary-Schools-Guide.pdf Maith sibh! Tháinig an múinteor damhsa, Caroline, go dtí ár scoil chun damhsaí a mhúineadh linn. Bhí seans againn inniu na damhsaí a chleachtadh amuigh faoin spéir ar an gclós! Rinnemar Ionsaí na hInse (Siege of Ennis), Shoe The Donkey, An Damhsa Mór, Ó Mo Dreoilín agus rince ar an sean-nós. Bhí Séamie ag seinm na poirt ar an mbosca ceoil agus rinne sé an-jab. Go raibh maith agat a Shéamie. Bhí an-spraoi againn. Tá muid ag súil go mór níos mó damsha a fhoghlaim don Féile Chois Cuain. Lá Fhéile Phadraig daoibh go léir.
A big shout-out to Jasmine, Tadhgan, Conor, Seamie, Máirtín-Óg, Annie, Ellen and Michaela who are participating in the Maigh Eo Thiar Scór competition. This children have entered four categories: Instrumental, Ballad group, Solo singing and Recitation. Go n-éirí an t-ádh leo agus tá súil againn go mbeidh tráthnóna spraíúil acu. Enjoy the wonderful perfomances! Singers, dancers, artists, public speakers, stage directors, musicians and performers make up our merry band of pupils. The boys are girls are always so generous in sharing their talents with each other and with the wider school community. Míle buíochas.
Special thanks to Vivien and Fr. Mattie for making the church available and ready for rehearsals and for the performance. Go raibh maith agaibh. (Apologies for the video dipping in and out of focus. it seems every time the tree lights flashed, the camera automatically tried to refocus. We will know for again.) |
