Sports Day 2009
Sports Day! Wednesday 24/06/09
Yesterday our school had a sports day.
The day started off when we were divided into three groups (red, green and blue). The first race was the running race and Junior Infants started it off. The potato and spoon race came next, followed by the sack race. I fell on the sack race but Dominic came first! The last race before our little break was the three legged race.
After little break, we had our relay race, which was lots of fun. There were three relay races. We had a bean bag race where a pair must carry a bean bag to the finish line by squishing it in between their arms, legs or head! Michael, Laura, Joe and Bride organised a barbeque for us. We had a healthy lunch of sausages, fruit, quiche and a squash drink. If you had finished your food you could have a game of bucket blast. We also had a fancy dress race and here were some great costumes!
The hula hoop competition came next and Sinead was the clear winner. She kept hula hooping for 13 minutes! Miss Staunton called out the final scores. The blue and green teams tied in second place and the red team came out on top with 99 points. We had a soccer and Gaelic match to finish off the day. My favourite race was the three legged race, it was so funny. Dominic’s favourite was the sack race where everyone was falling over. I think it was the best sports day yet.
