WOW/COW day
“Don’t travel with CO2, travel like Green Schools do!”
“What is WOW day?”
Walk On Weekdays!
“What is COW day?”
Cycle On Weekdays!
This year our Green Flag theme in Killeen NS is Travel and Transport. The Green Committee have been working hard to encourage the school community to use more energy efficient ways to travel to school.
On May Day, children along with their parents, teachers and Eva from Green Schools met at the bottle banks in Killeen and walked and cycled to school. It was a lovely sight to see the band of high vis jackets and happy faces weaving its way up the road to school. Everyone enjoyed a cup of tea and a healthy scone and fruit on arrival.
The coveted “Golden Boot” award was presented to the Junior Classroom for their green travel efforts. This award will go to the class who make the greenest travel effort every week from now on. Well done to Chloe O’Malley, Eve Power and Harry Monaghan who won cycling helmets and bicycle lights for their Green Travel posters. Eva played a giant travel game with the children- a fun way to learn more about green travel.
Keep up the Green Travel everyone! Let’s keep ‘mooving’
