We're deeee-lighted that our school has recently been awarded the Green Flag for Global Citizenship and Energy. This award recognises all the work we’ve done to save energy. While we haven’t yet collected our flag (watch this space, we are heading to Claremorris on Tuesday), we’re already casting our eyes forward to our next Green Schools flag: Global Citizenship: Marine Environment. In line with this, we are being mindful of how our actions on land affect our rivers, seas, and oceans. Take a look at us hard at work preparing the grounds for our 50th anniversary celebrations — but with a twist!
Instead of reaching for shop-bought chemical weedkillers, which can run off into waterways and harm aquatic life, we went the natural route. Our eco-friendly solution? A simple mix of salt, vinegar, and a dab of washing-up liquid.
