Match report by 5th and 6th
On Wednesday the 18th of May, 2022, Killeen NS went to the Kilmeena for the Cumann na mBunscoil blitz. In the boys’ first game, we played Cornanool. Unfortunately, we faced a stronger side and they claimed victory. Our second game was against Mulranny. Killeen upped their game and were victorious. Lankhill were our opponents in our third game of the blitz. At this stage, Killeen were on a roll. The first half saw 5 scores for Killeen including one goal. Lankhill were with the strong wind in the second half and coupled with a tiring Killeen side, the tables were turned and Lankhill came out on top. The final game for the boys saw a powerful Carraholly team close the blitz with multiple scores.
The girls got going as soon as the boys’ matches were finished. Killeen met Mulranny in the first game. The Killeen girls started strongly with the wind and got enough scores to assure them of a win, even with a tougher second half.
Killeen girls had an easy, high-scoring win over Carraholly next. Cornanool did not field a girls team, so the final match was against Lankhill. This was a tough match with much bigger opponents. They had the advantage over us and won the game fair and square.
After not having any Cumann na mBunscoil blitzes for two years, it was a thoroughly enjoyable day out.
