The children were very sad to say good bye to Crazy Coach Mark today after 6 weeks of fun on the soccer pitch. Thank you so much to Mark for sharing his expertise and for making the sessions so enjoyable each week.
Our Active Schools Skip Around Europe Challenge kicked off this week. In honour of their classmates Sasha and Katia, the children decided to skip to Ukraine. The distance was 2,516km or 2,516 skips, a target which was reached by Wednesday. Germany was chosen as our second destination and again after some brilliant skipping by the children they reached their target of 1,315km or 1,315 skips by Friday. Week two's first destination will be chosen on Monday.
The weather Gods were shining on us today for dance. The children had great fun perfecting their moves with Ciara.
The Maths topic this week is weight so the children had fun estimating and recording the weight of objects they found around the classroom.
Thank you so much to Martina from Louisburgh Library who came to visit the children of the junior room today to teach them all about the services offered by the library. Martina read the children a lovely story and then very kindly gave them all their own copy of the book One Snowy Night.
Ciara is putting the children through their paces each week at dance. They love learning her fun and energetic dance moves.
Using their math's eyes the children journeyed around the school grounds looking for repeat patterns which they have been learning about this week. They found them in the windows, the garden, on the building and they even managed to spot a repeat pattern created by their shadows.
There was great excitement this morning when the children realised that, not only was it time to decorate the Christmas tree, but also that the Christmas elf had arrived to say hello again this year. He advised the children that he was happy to be back and that his name was Bundee.
The children love their weekly visits from Catherine of Music Generation Mayo. This week they had great fun responding to music using parachutes.
