SMALL VOICES - BIG POWER I would have super tree-planting skills to plant lots of trees to help stable out the ozone layer.
I would have the power to turn every fossil fuel source into a renewable energy source. Plant trees with my mind. Remove all the ocean plastic with a snap of my fingers. I would have gills and super speed to clean the ocean super quick. Hello?! Forgetting something? Like TURNING OFF THE LIGHTS! Disappointing. Get fined for having a massive carbon footprint. I'd make sure EVERYONE had the essentials: money, house, good medical, education. Hey you, come back and turn me off! I would be able to transfer water from flooded countries to drier countries. I'd be able to shrink rubbish so it takes up less space. I would be able to pick up all the rubbish with a magnet. DON'T BE SLUGGISH PICK UP YOUR RUBBISH Thank you to Clíona in 5th class for coming up with this awesome code and WINNING the overall school vote.
Maith bhean a Chlíona!! This week, our school community came together to plant 50 native trees on the south-west corner of our school site, thanks to the support of the Burren Beo Trust and their Hare's Corner Project 🐇 The trees—spindle, aspen, birch, Burren pine, alder, hazel, purging buckthorn, oak, holly and hawthorn—were all grown from seeds collected in Co. Clare. Each class got the opportunity to plant and oversee their very own tree, making this not just an environmental initiative but also a shared learning experience. 🌱 A huge thank you to Grandad Eddie, whose expertise and history with our school woodland brought a special touch—he was part of the original shelter belt planting over 30 years ago! 🌲 We’re also so grateful to parents James and Padraic for their guidance and support, showing the children how to plant properly, and to Pakie for fencing the area during the summer to ensure the site was ready. Finally, go raibh maith agaibh to the team on the Parents’ Association for getting this project off the ground / in the ground!! We love our school woodland! 💚 Oil tank graphic Bar chart Money savings! Some great ideas in here on how to reduce our carbon footprint. These are the POSITIVE things we do. Have a look!
Workshop 5 at our Green Schools meeting asked the question: "what's so bad about C02 anyway?"At workshop 4 at our Green Schools meeting we tried to figure out the links between climate change and poverty.TEST YOURSELF! |
