The children looked rather frightful today in their Halloween costumes. They had great fun playing Halloween games and enjoyed a few treats while watching Room on the Broom by Julian Donaldson, a book we had been focusing on this week.
The children had their final dance session with Jan today, As always they had so much fun moving and shaking to lots of different songs. Thanks a million to Jan from GRIT (Westport).
The children got to play a beautiful sounding instrument called a Vibraphone. They loved playing along to tunes as the rest of the class sang. There was also an appearance from a surprise guest just in time for Halloween.
The children have been learning the sounds s, a, t, i, p and n. They practiced writing their sounds on the ground using chalk, Some of the children challenged themselves and wrote some CVC words such as sat and cat. They also practiced writing their names.
The children had another fantastic lesson with Catherine from Music Generation today. They learned new songs, played new instruments and played fun games.
The children have been learning about the season of Autumn. They did leaf rubbings outside before returning to the classroom with leaves they had collected to create beautiful squirrels.
Jan put the children through their paces today challenging them with lots of new dance moves and songs. The children had great fun and cannot wait to see Jan back every week for the next 4 weeks.
Catherine from Music Generation Mayo introduced the children to lots of new songs and instruments today. The children had great fun playing Claves for the first time.
The first Aistear topic of the new school year is My Home. The children used Lego and Polydrons to make replicas of their homes. At the Role Play station they got to play different characters and at the Junt Art station they made homes and furniture. At the Literacy station the junior infants got to practice their new sounds and the seniors wrote lots of words using the sounds.
